A simple Italian snack in the form of toasted bread, grated with garlic and oiled with olive oil. This is the classic version. However, fried ciabatta slices (the most suitable Italian bread for bruschetta) are filled with a variety of fillings – cheese, ham, olives, etc. Most often they are tomatoes with basil.
Combine the tomatoes, basil, and olive oil in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Preheat the broiler to maximum temperature. Slice the ciabatta in half lengthwise, then slice across the slices. Brown on both sides under the broiler (be careful not to burn the bread).
Immediately rub the slices of bread with garlic, place the tomatoes and basil on top of them and serve.
