Ingredients
White cabbage – 350 g
Onions (small) – 1 pc. (40 g)
Semolina – 3 teaspoon
Wheat flour – 3 teaspoon
Eggs – 2 pcs.
Salt to taste
Ground black pepper – to taste
Vegetable oil (for frying) – 50 ml (4 tablespoons)
Prepare all the ingredients you need to make the cabbage pancakes in tomato sauce.
Remove top and damaged leaves from cabbage. Cut the cabbage into small cubes. The finer the cabbage pieces are, the easier it will be for you to shape and turn the pancakes.
Send the chopped cabbage to a bowl, salt, and remember it with your hands. The cabbage should be soft.
Peel the onion into small cubes. Set aside half of the chopped onion, and send the other to the cabbage and stir.
Beat in the eggs. Stir again.
Add semolina. Stir well to avoid lumps.
Sift flour into a bowl of cabbage through a fine sieve.
Stir the mixture and leave for 10 minutes to swell the semolina.
Heat one tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet. Sauté the remaining half of the chopped onion over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Peel and chop the garlic finely. Send the garlic to the skillet with the onion. Add sugar and salt.
In a glass or small bowl, dilute the tomato paste with 100 ml of water and stir well. Pour the tomato sauce into a skillet with onions and garlic. Stir. Bring to a boil and remove from heat.
In a separate skillet, heat about half (1.5 tablespoons) of the remaining vegetable oil. Using a tablespoon, spread the cabbage mass to form the pancakes. Cover and sauté the cabbage pancakes over low heat for about 5 minutes on each side. Then place the prepared pancakes on a plate. In the same way, prepare the pancakes from the remaining cabbage mass.
Place all the cooked cabbage pancakes back into the pan and top with the prepared tomato sauce.
Add the bay leaf, cover, and cook the cabbage pancakes in tomato sauce over low heat for 15 minutes.
Juicy cabbage pancakes stewed in tomato sauce are ready. If desired, serve the cabbage pancakes in tomato sauce to the table, garnished with dill sprigs.
