Peel and cut the cucumber and remove the seeds. Then finely slice (or puree the cucumber in a blender). Mix the cucumber puree with a little salt and place in a sieve. Cover with a plate and place over a bowl. Drain for at least an hour (can also be done overnight).
Tip: You can also weigh the plate down to speed up draining.
Peel the garlic cloves and press them through a press. Mix the pressed garlic with the drained cucumber and stir in the yogurt. If necessary, add a little salt to taste.
Put the mixture in a serving bowl and drizzle with a little olive oil. Put the dried mint in a small tea strainer and rub through with a spoon, this creates a very fine mint powder. Sprinkle this powder all over the cacik - it is both a spice and a decoration. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and refrigerate until ready to serve.
