Wash, peel and cut the carrots and potatoes into cubes. Pour in the broth and cook in about 20 minutes. In the meantime, fry the diced bacon or ham with the diced onion in a little oil until the onion is translucent. Pour off the broth and mash the carrot mixture. Add a trick of butter and a little milk as desired and mash with. Stir in the onion mixture and season with mustard, pepper and salt. Tastes great with Kassler, Bratwurst, Mettenden or meatballs.
