- Coarsely grate the pumpernickel and mix with the liqueur. Let it steep for about 1 hour. Whip the whipped cream until stiff.
- Layer the pumpernickel, cherries and cream alternately in a tall bowl. Finally, pour a layer of cream on top.
- Sprinkle with chocolate flakes and place in the refrigerator about 1 hour before serving.
