Instructions

  1. The custard tartlets are a recipe I got from a Chinese exchange student:
  2. Sift the flour into a bowl and add the sugar. Work in the butter and lard until a crumbly dough is formed. Add the water and mix the mixture into a firm dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured worktop for 5 minutes until it is supple. Let rest in the fridge.
  4. In the meantime, whisk the eggs with the sugar for the cream. Gradually add milk and nutmeg and stir well.
  5. Divide the dough into 15 equal portions and roll them out into a round shape. Line small molds (muffin or tortelette molds) with the pastry sheets.
  6. Preheat the oven to 150 °. Use a spoon to pour the custard into the pastry molds. Bake in the oven for about 20-25 minutes.
  7. Let the custard tartlets cool down a little on a wire rack. Then serve (warm or cold) with whipped cream.
