Instructions

  1. Mix the flour with cocoa and sugar, add the butter in small flakes and the egg and knead into a dough. Slowly add enough juice from one orange to make a firm, smooth dough. Let rest for an hour.
  2. Knead the marzipan with all the ingredients and the juice of a whole orange. Be careful, however, that the marzipan does not become too runny, it should not be more than 2 tablespoon orange juice. Using a heart-shaped dumpling mold, prick hearts out of the rolled out dough and fill each dumpling with a heaping teaspoon of marzipan mixture. If you don`t have any dumpling molds, cut out a normal 8 cm heart shape and brush the two sides of the dough with egg yolk before folding. The specified amount is sufficient - depending on the thickness of the dough - for 8 to 10 hearts with a diameter of 8 cm. Bake for 20 minutes at 180 degrees, allow to cool, cover with tempered couverture and decorate to taste.
  3. The cakes last a few weeks in a tin and are ideal with cream, fruit and / or ice cream for a dessert that you always have ready to hand.
