Instructions

  1. Knead flour, lukewarm milk, yeast and approx. 150 g melted butter into a yeast dough and divide into 3 equal parts. Let the dough rise covered for about 5-10 minutes.
  2. Roll out the 3 parts roughly the same size in a rectangular shape. Brush the 3 dough sheets with the rest of the butter and sprinkle sugar and cinnamon evenly on them by hand. Roll up all 3 parts.
  3. Cut the resulting strands from above with a sharp knife up to the middle so that they gape apart. Now braid these strands into a braid. Cover with a cloth and let rise for about 40 minutes.
  4. Bake at about 210 degrees for about 40 minutes, until the braid is nice and brown. If you feel like it, you can brush it with egg before baking so that it shines better.
  5. Brush with icing after baking.
