Instructions

  1. Fry the bacon until crispy and let it cool on kitchen paper, then cut into small pieces / crumble.
  2. Melt 40 g butter in a saucepan. Add the flour and stir until there are no more lumps. Now gradually add the milk, stir and bring to the boil. Then add the processed cheese. When it has melted add the grated cheese. When this is also melted, season with nutmeg, pepper and salt to taste.
  3. Fry the spaetzle with the remaining butter in a pan for 5 minutes until golden brown or according to the package instructions. Then add to the cheese mixture, stir and let simmer briefly. Add the bacon and stir in, then put everything together in a baking dish and sprinkle with the remaining cheese and roasted onions.
  4. Baked briefly in the oven on grill setting. Be careful not to let the onions get too dark.
