Instructions

  1. Marinate the raisins for the filling with the rum.
  2. For the strudel dough, mix the flour with the salt in a bowl. Add water, apple cider vinegar and oil and knead into a dough. Knead the dough on the floured work surface until it feels smooth. It shouldn`t stick anymore. Cover the dough with foil and let rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  3. For the filling, peel the apples and grate them roughly on a grater, then drizzle with lemon juice. Add sugar, vanilla sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, grated hazelnuts and raisins, mix everything well and set aside.
  4. 
  5. Melt the margarine and let it cool. Preheat the oven to 190 ° C top / bottom heat. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Take the strudel dough out of the refrigerator and knead again. Lightly flour a kitchen towel and roll out the dough on the floured kitchen towel with a rolling pin. Then flour the hands and backs of the hands and carefully pull out the dough from the center outwards with the backs of the hands. Put the dough back on the kitchen towel and carefully pull out the edges.
  7. Spread half of the melted margarine on the strudel dough. Spread the filling on 2/3 of the rectangular strudel dough approx. 3 cm from the edge. With the help of the kitchen towel, fold in the edges and roll up the strudel from the broad side. Put the kitchen towel on the baking sheet and brush with the remaining liquid margarine.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven at 190 ° C top / bottom heat on the middle rack for approx. 40 minutes.
  9. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
