To prepare taratushki on kefir, all products should be at room temperature. Kefir – not less than 2.5% fat.
Mix kefir and egg.
Add sugar, salt, soda, and vegetable oil, mix everything well.
Pour flour in portions and knead the dough.
The dough should be soft and not sticky. Roll the dough into a ball, cover with a towel and leave for 30 minutes.
Then divide the dough into pieces (for convenience). Roll out the dough into a 1 cm thick layer. Cut small pieces. Cut a hole in the center and pull one end of the dough through it.
Heat oil in a frying pan until hot, turn the heat to medium or slightly higher. Fry the crumpets in oil first on one side, then gently turn over with a fork and fry on the other side. Tarats are fried pretty quickly, so it’s better not to leave the stove.
Put the fried crumpets on a paper towel and immediately sprinkle them with powdered sugar. I used a mixture of powdered sugar with cinnamon and vanilla, which gave the donuts a very pleasant aroma.
Delicious crumpets on kefir are ready. Serve hot with milk, tea, or cocoa.
