Stir the fat until foamy, add the eggs, the salt and gradually, alternately with the milk, add the sifted flour mixed with baking powder. Beat the dough with the mixing spoon until it bubbles. With a tablespoon dipped in hot water, cut off the dumplings, put them in boiling salted water and cook for 10 minutes (gas half high flame; power level 2). Serve the dumplings with roasted breadcrumbs and serve with baked fruit or meat.
