Sprinkle the yeast cube with the sugar and gradually stir both together until the yeast has dissolved. It takes a little.
Put the flour, lukewarm water and the dissolved yeast-sugar mixture in a bowl and stir to form a dough. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about half an hour until the dough forms bubbles.
Now add the 800 g flour, salt and spices. Melt the butter and add it with the water and work everything into a smooth dough.
Flour the work surface a little and knead the dough well again by hand, then flour the dough and return to the bowl. Close the bowl with the corresponding lid and let rise for about 2 - 3 hours.
Flour the work surface again and knead and shape the dough again well and then place it on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
Preheat the oven to 200 °.
You can now cut into the bread as you like on the surface with a knife and brush with milk or butter. I made it with butter.
When the oven has reached temperature, insert the tray with the dough blank and bake for about 45 minutes. Then do a knock test. If it sounds hollow, place on a slatted frame, cover with a cloth and let cool down.
