Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 150 ° with top and bottom heat.
  2. For the dough, stir the eggs, sugar and vanilla sugar until frothy. Mix the flour and baking powder and stir in. Then mix in the oil and Fanta.
  3. Grease a 26 springform pan and pour in the batter. Bake at 150 ° for approx. 60-70 minutes. Let cool down.
  4. When the cake has cooled down, cut a circle for the snake`s head out of the middle, then cut the cake horizontally and cut in half. It is best to arrange in a snake shape on a baking sheet or large platter.
  5. Since the cake is not yet perfectly rounded, it must now be cut a little. Round off the sides a little at the top and also flatten the tail piece.
  6. Cut away the dough, crumble it and set aside.
  7. For the filling, drain the mandarins, whip the cream with whipped cream and 1 packet of vanilla sugar until stiff. Mix the sour cream and 1 packet of vanilla sugar and fold in the drained mandarins. Then fold in the cream and refine with cinnamon and sugar.
  8. Lift the upper halves off the cake and distribute the mixture evenly in the snake belly.
  9. For the coating, color a portion (approx. 450 g) of raw marzipan mixture green and knead it well, then roll it out between baking paper so that the snake is well covered. Do not roll out too thick, it should only be 3-5 mm.
  10. Then color part of the raw marzipan mixture in yellow and part of it in red so that the snake has a pretty striped pattern and a tongue. Simply place the strips over the green marzipan skin and decorate with a few fruit gums of your choice. Cut out the tongue from the red mass.
  11. The eyes still have to be formed from the rest of the marzipan, then I glazed them with powdered sugar.
  12. Spread the cake crumbs around the snake on the baking sheet so the snake can crawl through the desert.
  13. Chill the cake for approx. 2-3 hours.
