Leave the bacon in a pan, add the walnuts and let them roast briefly until it smells nice and nutty. Then sprinkle the sugar over it and let it melt in the pan while stirring. Make sure that the sugar does not stick to the bottom, but rather spreads over the nuts and bacon.
Put the lettuce in a bowl and top with the nut mixture.
Mix the sour cream with the maple syrup and dilute with milk if necessary.
Just before serving, pour over the salad and mix everything well.
Goes well with roasts or game dishes.
The salad tastes quite good even a day later if you keep it airtight in the refrigerator.
