Preheat the oven to 200 ° C (with circulating air - without preheating - 180 ° C).
Wash and dry the figs and cut off the top. Then cut in half across and cover each half with a piece of goat cheese. Wrap a sheet of raw ham loosely and place on an ovenproof plate or in a baking pan (either oil or cover with baking paper beforehand).
Sprinkle a pinch of sugar on the goat cheese, grind as desired with the pepper mill and - if you like - drizzle some oil over it (but does not have to, and if so, do this before the sugar).
Bake in the oven for about 12 minutes. Check again and again after approx. 10 minutes.
Take it out of the pipe. Serve either like this or on (marinated) lettuce leaves. Then drizzle with a little balsamic vinegar and / or olive oil as desired.
I like to incorporate this dish into a menu as an uncomplicated and light starter. The goat cheese and ham are spicy enough that there is no need for additional salt.
Tips: As an alternative to goat cream cheese, which not everyone likes (or if it should be milder), buffalo mozzarella can also be used.
As a small dinner when things have to be done quickly, I prepare double the amount per person. It`s wonderful with a salad and fresh bread.
