Instructions

  1. Halve the ham and cheese so that they fit on the toast without overlapping.
  2. Mix the egg with the flour, salt, pepper, the herbs, the milk, the paprika / curry powder and the onions (you can also leave out the onions). Then place the toast slices in the mixture so that they can soak up.
  3. Heat a pan and pour in the oil. Slowly fry the two toast slices from one side until they have turned a golden brown color. Turn a slice of toast and alternately top it with ham and cheese. Place the second slice of toast on it with the fried side down and squeeze it lightly so that the melting cheese combines toast and ham. When the bottom side of the toast is ready and the cheese has melted, turn the whole thing over and fry it in the pan until the other side is ready and the cheese has melted perfectly.
  4. Remove from the pan, dab off the fat with kitchen paper and then serve with fresh herbs and a tomato, either cut into wedges or into slices and slide into the toast.
  5. Variations are possible, e.g. mozzarella as cheese or bacon instead of ham.
