Instructions

  1. The best thing to do is to have the fresh mackerel divided into fillets in the store.
  2. Season the mackerel fillets with salt and pepper and toss in the flour. Then knock off the excess flour again.
  3. Now cut the garlic into very small cubes and fry in olive oil in a small pan or pot. Then add the soy sauce and the either grated or very finely chopped ginger and let everything boil down a little. You can add salt and pepper to taste, but the salt content of the soy sauce is usually sufficient.
  4. Now fry the mackerel fillets in another pan. It shouldn`t cook too long, preferably only about two minutes on each side. Then arrange the mackerel on a plate and spread the sauce over it. Finally, decorate with the chopped chilli pepper and a little parsley.
  5. Baked potatoes or rice go well with this.
  6. We were immediately enthusiastic about this recipe from a Spanish magazine, even though I don`t really like mackerel. But this recipe has now become our standard mackerel recipe.
