Wash and dry the okra pods (prevents slime). Cut into pieces 1 - 1 1/2 cm in length.
Heat the oil and fry the cumin in it. Add the onion and stir-fry until golden (takes 4 - 5 minutes). Add the okra pieces and fry for another 10 minutes, stirring frequently. The onion should turn dark brown.
Add the ground spices and salt and fry for another 5 minutes. Add the lime juice, stir well and fry for another minute.
