Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 ° C.
  2. Cut the white bread into slices and press them as flat as possible and cut in half.
  3. Beat the eggs with the sugar and the pulp scraped out of the vanilla pod with a whisk to a frothy mass. Then stir in the cream, milk and Bailey`s.
  4. Toast the sliced almonds in a pan without fat until they are golden yellow. Cut the bananas lengthways into slices.
  5. Grease a baking dish with butter. Then dip the white bread slices in the egg mixture and line the bottom of the baking dish with it, place banana slices on top and sprinkle with flaked almonds. Repeat until everything is used up. Finally, put a layer of white bread on top, then pour the remaining egg mixture over it and press everything together.
  6. Dust the surface with the powdered sugar, then bake the casserole for about 35 minutes. The egg mixture should be firm on the outside, but still soft and creamy on the inside. Let the casserole cool a little and serve.
  7. If you don`t like bananas, you can also use raisins or dried apricots. Instead of white bread, you can also use leftover yeast plaited or Easter bread.
  8. When children eat, of course, you leave out the alcohol and possibly add some almond syrup or cream. But it doesn`t have to be.
