Steam the diced onions in the pan until translucent. Sear the sliced meat. Add the mushrooms to the pan and season well with the spices. Add tomato paste and sweat briefly, add water and bring to the boil. Add the cream and simmer for 5 minutes.
Pour the contents of the pan over the gnocchi. Bake in a preheated oven (200 degrees top / bottom heat or 160-170 degrees hot air / convection) for about 35 minutes, after 20 minutes of baking, sprinkle the cheese on top.
