Dice the tomatoes and onions. Sweat the onions in a pan with olive oil. Add the tomatoes and sprinkle the sugar over them. This will bring out the tomato flavor. Either press the garlic or add it finely diced and stir in. Let it simmer a little. Then add the crème fraîche. Season everything with thyme, dill, a little broth, salt and pepper. Finally rub the Grana Padano into the sauce. Cook the gnocchi and add them straight from the saucepan to the sauce.
When cooled, the sauce also tastes good as a spread.
