Instructions

  1. Mix the flour, sugar, salt, dry yeast, baking powder and vanilla sugar together. Simmer the milk with the butter on low heat until the milk is warm and the butter has melted. Pour some warm milk with the butter into the flour mixture and stir or knead by hand. Put some warm milk into the dough again. The dough is ready when it is smooth and not crumbly or sticky. If it sticks or is crumbly, add a little flour or milk. Shape the dough into a ball and let rise in a bowl with a covered towel in a warm place for at least 1 hour until it has doubled.
  2. Divide the dough into approx. 20 portions with a tablespoon and place on a work surface dusted with flour. Shape each into a ball and press flat. If necessary, place 1 - 2 plums per portion on the flattened dough, fold up all sides and press together to form a sachet.
  3. Put an attachment in the pot. Fill the bottom with water and place a cloth over it. Bring the water to a boil over medium heat. Depending on the size of the pot, add a few dumplings so that they just touch the water. They should be next to each other with a little space, as these will still open. Put the lid on the saucepan and steam for 15 minutes.
  4. Serve with melted butter, breadcrumbs and sugar.
