Soak white bread in lukewarm water and then drain. Put all ingredients in a bowl, mix well and season to taste. Put plenty of olive oil in a pan, form small, plum-sized balls and fry them over medium heat for about 10 minutes.
Sauce:
Fry the onions in a pan. Puree or dice tomatoes and add to the onions. Season the sauce with white wine and the spices and simmer for about 5 minutes.
Then place the fried meatballs in the tomato sauce and let everything simmer for about 15 minutes.
This goes well with rice, boiled potatoes or pasta.
