Clean the green asparagus and cut off the hard ends. Place the cleaned asparagus in enough cold water to just cover it. Add the hard ends and any shells. Season the water with butter, salt, sugar and lemon juice. Bring everything to a boil and simmer on a low flame for 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the thickness of the sticks.
Drain the asparagus, arrange with Didi-style herb sauce and serve.
