Instructions

  1. Wash the beans, cut off the tips and cut the beans into 4 - 5 cm long pieces. Peel the onion and garlic, cut into cubes and fry in olive oil. Add the beans and the canned tomatoes with the juice all at once, sprinkle with the herbs and spices, stir well and cover and let simmer for about 1.5 hours. Finally stir in a little tomato paste, add seasoning if necessary! The bean dish is ready when the beans are soft and the tomato sauce has a creamy consistency. The beans should not swim in the tomato sauce! They are served as an accompaniment to briefly roasted meat (e.g. with lamb steaks at Easter) or as a kind of stew with a piece of baguette. We prefer to eat them cold! This dish can also be prepared wonderfully in a Roman pot, but the beans take longer in the oven, but they also taste great!
