Make a yeast dough from the dough ingredients. To do this, crumble the yeast, mix with a little sugar and stir until smooth with a little lukewarm water. Let go until the mass has doubled. Mix with flour, salt and oil and knead with enough water until you get a smooth dough that does not stick to your hands. Mix all ingredients with dry yeast, knead into a dough and let rise.
Then divide the dough into three equal pieces. Leave one as it is, color the second red with paprika powder. Possibly add a little more water if the dough gets too dry. Color the third part with the herbs.
Roll the dough pieces into strands and braid them into a plait, place on a baking sheet with baking paper and let rise for approx. 30-45 minutes.
Bake at 200 ° C (preheated) for approx. 25-35 minutes (depending on the oven). I tap the bread with my fingernail, if it sounds hollow, it`s done.
Tips:
Wait a few minutes before rolling, then the dough relaxes and you can shape it better.
Fresh herbs color better because they are more juicy.
You can also form 2 smaller braids, then 20-25 minutes of baking time is sufficient.
