Instructions

  1. We serve grilled onions as a side dish for grilling. Since the vegetable onions are very large, they should be pre-cooked. For this purpose I cut the peeled onion in a cross shape up to about the middle. Then put it in a suitable container in the microwave for 2.5-3 minutes on the highest setting.
  2. In the meantime, I`ll prepare a piece of aluminum foil that will be doubled up and big enough to enclose the onion. I put the pre-cooked onion on the aluminum foil. In the incisions and over the onion, I now add a little salt and the lettuce topping and make sure that the powder is also distributed in the incisions. Then I put the balsamic vinegar, the vegetable oil and finally the caramel syrup over the onion, wrap it well with the aluminum foil and put it on the grill with the first grilled food. It should be ready at halftime in good heat.
  3. Note: Caramel syrup can usually be found in well-stocked markets in the cocktail department.
