Cut the peppers into small cubes and fry them in a pan with the gyros in a little oil. I took olive oil with it.
In the meantime, stir together the whipped cream, crème frâiche and sour cream as a creamy sauce. Add metaxa as desired. First fill the gyros with the paprika in a baking dish, then spread the sauce over it. Grate the cheese and sprinkle over it.
Bake the casserole in the oven at 180 degrees top and bottom heat for about 35 minutes, depending on how brown the cheese should be.
White cabbage, tzatziki and french fries go perfectly with it. If the fries are left out, this casserole also qualifies as low carb.
