Instructions

  1. Put the gyros in a baking dish without frying it and spread the uncooked kritharaki over it. Mix a little with the gyros, otherwise the noodles will stick together later and will not be cooked properly.
  2. Wash, clean and slice the mushrooms and spread them over the gyros and kritharaki mixture. If you don`t have any fresh mushrooms available, canned or glass mushrooms will of course also work. Pour the tomato sauce over the whole thing. Season with salt, pepper and herbs.
  3. Put the milk and the processed cheese in a saucepan, heat while stirring until the processed cheese has dissolved and then briefly bring to the boil. Then pour this sauce over the casserole. Finally, spread the grated cheese on top.
  4. The whole thing then has to be in the oven for one hour at 175 ° C. So that the cheese doesn`t turn too brown, I cover the baking dish with aluminum foil for the first half hour.
