Skip the diced bacon. Briefly fry the onions, diced potatoes and sliced sausages. Add the peeled tomatoes and drained kidney beans. Stir well and simmer on a low heat for about 1 hour with the lid closed. Stir in between. Then add the cream and simmer for another 20 minutes without the lid.
I don`t season the soup at all because the bacon and sausages give it a good taste of its own. And, as with any stew, it tastes best warmed up.
