Instructions

  1. First, finely dice the onions. Fry together with the bacon cubes in a hot pan until the onion cubes are very lightly colored. Then take it off the stove and let it cool down a little.
  2. In the meantime, put the dumpling dough, egg and milk in a large bowl. Now add the fried onion bacon mixture to this mixture. Mix everything with a wooden spoon and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Be really sparing with salt. Sometimes salting is not necessary as the bacon already contains enough salt.
  4. Now bake the finished dough in a waffle iron in portions until golden brown.
  5. Tips: Sour cream or tzatziki go well with the waffles. You can also sprinkle grated cheese over the finished waffles. The dough can also be modified with grated cheese or herbs. If you have more time, you can freshly prepare the dumpling dough. But when it has to be done quickly, I use ready-made dough on the refrigerated shelf.
