Instructions

  1. Makes 4 rolls.
  2. Grate the carrots on the coarse side of the kitchen grater as you like, with or without the skin.
  3. Measure out the flour and place in a large bowl where all the ingredients can be mixed together. Add salt, yeast, possibly chia seeds and grated carrots to the flour and mix everything well. Gradually add the water and first stir the dough in the bowl and mix with your hands. If you don`t like sticky, doughy hands, you can stir the mixture with a spoon. When the dough is no longer too sticky, knead it thoroughly with your hands on a floured work surface.
  4. Tip: Yeast dough needs to be carried on hands, the more and longer you knead it with your hands (!), The better it will be. I kneaded for about 2 minutes, so you don`t have to overdo it to get a tasty result.
  5. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 3 hours, until it is about twice as big. (If you need it faster, take up to twice the amount of dry yeast, but you should give it 30 minutes.) Now divide the dough into about 4 equal sized rolls or shape a bread, do not knead again. If you want, you can put any topping on the bread here. I loved oatmeal!
  6. Place the rolls on a baking sheet, cover again and let rest while the oven preheats to 250 ° C top / bottom heat.
  7. Put the rolls in the oven and pour some water on the oven floor, quickly close the door! After approx. 10 minutes, reduce the temperature to 200 ° C and briefly open the door to let the steam out. After another 15 minutes the rolls are ready! Bread takes a little longer, about another 10 minutes to bake. When you tap the underside of the bread / bun, it should sound hollow.
  8. Let the rolls cool down briefly and enjoy with salty butter.
  9. I wish you success!
