The appetizer is prepared very quickly, so if guests accidentally come, you can safely prepare a herring and egg appetizer, which will go well with strong drinks.
Cut the lemon in half. Squeeze juice from one half of the lemon.
If you serve a snack on slices of bread just like me, then the second half of the lemon should be cut into thin half rings (this is optional), and if not, then the second half of the lemon will not be needed.
Cut herring into small cubes.
Finely chop the dill.
Peel the eggs and chop finely.
In a bowl, combine the herring with eggs, dill and mustard. Season with lemon juice, salt if desired and mix well.
Serve this appetizer well with fresh rye bread, croutons, lavash or savory pancakes. I served the appetizer on slices of rye bread and garnished with sliced lemon.
