Instructions

  1. Peel the onions and cut into thin slices. Cut the sausages into slices about 5 millimeters thick. Cut the washed and dry lettuce into small pieces. Halve the hot dog rolls, toast them lightly and then cut into cubes about 2 x 2 centimeters in size.
  2. Put the chopped onions, vinegar and sugar in a saucepan with the ketchup. Then season with 1 teaspoon of salt and, depending on your taste, with black pepper and cayenne pepper or chili powder. Stir the mixture and then simmer on low energy for 15-20 minutes until the onions are soft. Then let it cool down.
  3. Now layer in this order: As the bottom layer, put the first half of the roll cubes, as the second layer, the first half of the iceberg lettuce, as the third layer, the first half of the hot dog sauce or mayonnaise, and as the fourth layer, top with all the sausages. Spread the prepared onion ketchup sauce on top as the fifth layer, spread the complete Danish cucumber salad on top as the sixth layer, then spread the second half of the iceberg lettuce over it. As the seventh layer, the second half of the hot dog sauce or mayonnaise, as the eighth layer, the second half of the bun cubes. Sprinkle the grated cheese on top. Finally, as the top layer, spread the fried onions over the top.
