Instructions

  1. Remove the outer coarse leaves of the red cabbage, then quarter the cabbage and cut out the stalk. Wash the cabbage, cut very finely or slice. Peel, quarter, core and dice the apples. Peel and dice the onions.
  2. Melt the lard, fry the onion cubes in it, add the cabbage and apples and fry as well.
  3. Add the other ingredients. Let the red cabbage simmer for about 1.5 hours, then season with salt and sugar, remove the juniper berries, bay leaves and cloves.
