Instructions

  1. Peel the kohlrabi and cut into strips. Peel and slice the potatoes.
  2. Cook both in separate pots in salted water, being careful not to overcook them. Catch the cooking water from the kohlrabi while draining and set aside.
  3. Fry the minced meat with the peeled onion cut into small cubes. Salt and pepper the meat to taste.
  4. For the sauce, melt the butter or margarine in a saucepan and stir in the flour until lumpy. Gradually, the collected kohlrabi boiling water is poured in. Always stir just a little and until it is really thick again, bring to the boil in between and pour in some more water. Then add the cream and when it boils again, add half a packet of grated cheese until it has completely dissolved in the sauce. Season the whole thing with fondor and nutmeg.
  5. In a baking dish, everything is layered in the following order: minced meat, sauce, potatoes, sauce, kohlrabi, sauce.
  6. Spread the rest of the grated cheese over it and bake everything at 175 ° C in the preheated oven on the middle rack until the cheese has reached the desired degree of browning, which takes about 20 - 30 minutes.
