Mix the cream and milk. Bring to the boil together with the vanilla pod and sugar. Simmer gently for about 10 minutes.
In the meantime, soak the gelatine in cold water according to the instructions on the packet. Then squeeze out the water and dissolve the gelatine in the milk. Now pour the mixture into suitable containers and put in a cool place for about 2 hours.
Turn the panna cotta out onto a plate and serve.
This is best served with a fruit sauce or a compote.
