Loaf Stuffed with Sardine Instructions

  1. Prepare all the ingredients you need to make the stuffed sardine loaf. Remove the butter from the refrigerator beforehand to soften.

  2. Peel the onion and cut into small cubes. Pour vegetable oil into a skillet and heat over medium heat. Place the chopped onion there.
  3. Fry the onions over medium heat for about 5-7 minutes, until soft. Then cool slightly. From a can of canned fish, pour the liquid into a cup or glass and set aside, we may need it. Put the fish on a plate and mash well with a fork.
  4. Cut off the peaks of a loaf of bread and remove the crumb – this is convenient to do both with a knife and fork, and with your hands. (We don’t need bread rolls – you can make bread crumbs or just croutons from them.)

  5. Chop the crumb with a knife (or just finely tear it with your hands) and put in a deep bowl.
  6. Send the chopped sardines to the crumb bowl.
  7. Add softened butter.
  8. Rinse the parsley greens, dry, chop finely and also send to a bowl.
  9. Add the sautéed onions.

  10. Mix well. If the mass turns out to be dry and disintegrates, then add a little liquid from the sardines and mix well again. Add liquid and stir until the mixture is completely wet, smooth and slightly sticky.
  11. Fill the bread loaf tightly with minced fish.
  12. Then wrap the stuffed loaf tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 5 hours (or overnight).
  13. Then free the loaf from the cling film and cut into portions – you will get funny sandwiches. If you are planning to take a loaf with you or just prepare “in reserve”, then leave it in the film, and unfold and cut just before serving.
  14. The stuffed loaf with canned fish is ready. Can be served with tea or coffee.

Bon Appetit!
