In the meantime, dice the pickles. Dice or coarsely grate the carrots and finely chop the onions.
Peel the potatoes and cut them into wafer-thin slices while they are still warm. Mix with onions, carrots and pickles. Possibly heat up again briefly in the pot on the stove. Add the cucumber liquid as desired. Season with salt and pepper and serve while warm.
Great as a side dish for grilling, the number of portions is reduced if it is only used as a side dish.
