Core the paprika and cut into approx. 5cm wide strips. Scald with boiling water in a large bowl and let stand for 5 minutes. Drain and divide into 4 glasses of 450 ml each.
Put 2 cloves of garlic, 1 tablespoon of oil and half a teaspoon of salt in each glass.
Bring the vinegar, water and sugar to the boil and pour into the glasses over the peppers. Close jars.
To sterilize, put the jars in a large saucepan, cover with water (up to 5 cm over the lids), bring the water to a boil and cook for 5 minutes. Carefully lift the glasses out of the pot and let them cool down. Store in the dark.
