Instructions

  1. Peel and cook the potatoes. Then mash so that they are still slightly crumbly. Mix the melted browned butter with the garlic.
  2. Preheat the oven to 200 ° C to 220 ° C top / bottom heat.
  3. Put a loose, crumbly layer of mashed potatoes, a layer of fried onions (homemade, of course) and another layer of potatoes, 1 layer of brown butter with garlic, etc. in an ovenproof dish. Salt and pepper all layers. The end should consist of fried onions.
  4. Then place the tin in the hot oven and let it brown for 5-10 minutes. Now, depending on the type of potato, pour the buttermilk over it, which then seeps through and sometimes hisses away. Put it in the hot pipe for a few more minutes.
  5. Caution: It is best to stay near the oven so that nothing goes black. It should just look crispy on top and the buttermilk should evaporate a little in the potatoes. The consistency of the whole thing is light and creamy and, thanks to the butter, also rich in calories.
  6. There is also ice-cold buttermilk and a green salad.
  7. Note: All details are approximate, because I never cook the mashed potatoes according to a recipe and I roughly estimated the quantities once.
