Instructions

  1. The recipe is just as simple as regular mashed potatoes, but more sophisticated.
  2. Peel sweet potatoes and potatoes and cut into pieces, cook in lightly salted water for about 15-20 minutes. Add the sweet potatoes about 5 minutes later as they cook faster. When they are done, pour off the cooking water and puree the potatoes with the masher (not with the mixer, otherwise the whole thing will be slimy). Add the butter and milk and mash until the puree has the desired consistency.
  3. Slice the peppers, remove the seeds and cut finely, stir into the puree. If you don`t want to use fresh peppers, you can use ground chilli or cayenne pepper. Season with salt, pepper, nutmeg and a tiny (!) Pinch of cinnamon.
  4. The puree goes great with orange duck. But it is also suitable as a side dish with other poultry dishes.
