Cut herring fillets, tomatoes and cucumber into small pieces. Then dice the onion and mix everything together well.
Add a good dash of balsamic vinegar and oil to the salad. Season to taste with a little pepper, salt and dill.
Cover and let the salad stand in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
I called the salad à la Papa because my late papa always made it that way. My brother and I always liked the salad so much that my dad always had to make several servings of it so that we could take something home with us.
