Since I am often asked on my little grill and smoke blog how to easily make a delicious, good steak, here is a recipe. There are very many types of preparation and I am only going into the most common ones here.
The quality of the meat should be good to very good, so that you will not be disappointed later. A good tomahawk steak can easily cost between 28 and 110 euros. This is why temperature monitoring is very important so that you don`t mess it up.
Unpack the steak and just pat dry, preferably with kitchen towels.
Place the tomahawk steak on the preheated grill and grill using the 90-90 method.
90-90 method means: 90 seconds of direct heat, then turn 45 ° and grill again for 90 seconds. Now turn and grill again for 90-90 seconds.
Now equip the good steak with a core thermometer and let it simmer over indirect heat of 120 - 130 ° C to the desired cooking point. Take the steak off the grill and cover it (aluminum foil or lid) and let it stand for another 3 - 5 minutes. Then sprinkle with fresh pepper and a little salt or, as I did in my case, with fresh wild garlic butter.
