Put the first three ingredients in a 3.5 L crockpot and mix. Cover and simmer on low for approx. 9-11 hours until the meat is soft. Add the remaining ingredients (beans, spice mixture and corn), stir well and simmer on high for another 15 to 30 minutes.
Serve as a classic stew with a little sour cream and grated cheese. If you want, garnish with fresh pepperoni slices. Freshly baked cornbread goes very well with it!
Note: The recipe is also ideal as a party dish - then tortilla chips may be enough.
