Instructions

  1. Put sticky rice flour, sugar and water in a bowl and stir well. Brush a microwaveable dish with a thin layer of oil.
  2. Now pour the dough into the mold. Then lightly cover (e.g. with baking paper) in the microwave for 4 - 6 minutes on the highest setting. Now it should be a chewy sticky mass.
  3. Shape the mochi into small balls. Flour your hands with potato starch to prevent it from sticking. If you want, coat the balls with sesame, black sesame or desiccated coconut.
  4. You can also use tea instead of water to spice up the taste. For example green tea. A dash of coconut milk is also recommended.
  5. The shape I use is flat and square, 13 cm x 18 cm. If you have a bowl, you should stir again maybe half the time so that it gives an even consistency.
