A simple and tasty treat – sweet croutons soaked in aromatic milk with cinnamon and orange peel. And if you serve orange syrup with such croutons, not a single sweet tooth can resist! A great breakfast or an unpretentious dessert, which is very easy to prepare.
Wash the orange thoroughly and pour over it with boiling water. Remove the zest from half of the orange with a vegetable peeler. Squeeze juice from the same orange.
In a saucepan or saucepan, mix orange juice with an equal amount of sugar (I got 60 ml of juice, I took 60 g of sugar). Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low and boil the syrup for about 10 minutes.
Pour the orange syrup into a suitable container and leave to cool. When it cools, the syrup thickens noticeably and becomes similar in consistency to liquid honey.
We prepare the ingredients for the croutons. Cut the bread into slices about 2 cm thick.
Pour the milk into a saucepan, add sugar, cinnamon, and orange zest. We put on heat, bring to a boil, and immediately remove from heat.
Put the slices of bread in a deep bowl.
Fill the bread slices with hot milk with cinnamon and zest. Leave for soaking for about 2-3 minutes (the bread should be soaked in the milk mixture and soften, but not fall apart).
Break the egg into a deep bowl and beat with a fork.
Dip bread slices soaked in milk in an egg.
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan. Fry the croutons over medium heat for about 2-3 minutes on each side. Then spread the fried croutons on a paper towel to absorb the excess oil.
Put sweet milk croutons with cinnamon on a plate and serve with orange syrup.
