Instructions

  1. Cut the bacon into fine cubes. Peel the onions and dice them a little larger. Heat the oil in a large saucepan, leave out the bacon cubes and fry them. Add the onion cubes and fry until translucent. Now add the beans, tomato ketchup, bell peppers, sour cream, red wine, stock cubes and bay leaves. Season with sugar, salt, pepper, both kinds of paprika powder, a dash of lemon juice, thyme, marjoram and savory. The stew should be sweet and sour.
  2. Bring it to the boil and then cover it on the lowest setting - the longer the better. Be careful, it likes to start at the bottom of the pot, so stir it more often. In the last 30 minutes, add the Debrecziner (cut into 0.5 - 1 cm thick slices) and let simmer. Serve hot.
  3. Baguette or flatbread tastes good with it. Serve with a cold beer.
