Instructions

  1. Put the wheat flour in a bowl and make a well in the middle. Crumble the yeast in the well and sprinkle with the sugar. Pour a sip of the water (warm), about 50 ml, over the yeast and sugar. Wait two minutes, then stir into a batter while adding the rest of the water. Now add the salt, oil, oregano and hard cheese and stir until everything is well mixed.
  2. Let the dough rise for about 1 hour. You can cover the bowl with a warm, damp towel or put it in the oven at 50 ° C. That doesn`t change the taste, but it does ensure that the bread really rises.
  3. Then put the dough in a mold or use a little flour to shape it into the desired shape on a baking sheet. I myself like to use a loaf pan for cakes. The bread doesn`t stick, the size is right and you can cut toast-shaped slices afterwards. If the bread is older, you can crunch it up again in the toaster.
  4. Place the tin or tray in the oven at 180 ° C for 30 minutes. After taking it out, let it stand for about 30 minutes, then you can easily take the bread out of the mold, cut it directly and enjoy it while it is still warm.
  5. In contrast to other recipes, the cheese is not poured over the bread, but mixed into the dough. Of course, you can also use real Parmesan for this, but if you bake such bread more often, you probably want to pay attention to the money. An ordinary hard cheese from the shaker at the discounter of your choice is completely sufficient. I would only sprinkle real Parmesan on top for a luxury version of this bread.
